One of this model’s most innovative features is its safe exit assist, which alerts occupants of approaching vehicles before they get out. This trim option also features a smart key with push-button start, as well as a hands-free smart trunk. Pricing for the K5 LXS starts at $24,590.
KIA K5 GT-Line
The KIA K5 GT-Line includes all of the above features and more. The 2021 KIA K5 vs. 2020 KIA Optima
So, how does the new and improved 2021 KIA K5 compare to the previous KIA Optima? Besides the obvious new name, there are a few other key differences between the two cars.
The first way the K5 varies from the Optima is with its design — the K5 is slightly wider, lower, and longer, allowing for more room no matter where you’re headed. The K5 also has a more sophisticated and elevated interior, as well as modern features like voice recognition and wireless charging capabilities.
But one of the biggest ways the K5 differs from the Optima is in its performance. For the first time, the 2021 KIA K5 comes equipped with all-wheel drive on even its most basic trim levels. Meanwhile, the 2020 KIA Optima did not have this feature. In addition to all-wheel drive, the KIA K5 also offers a more powerful engine. KIA estimates the K5 GT trim will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds, which is a full second faster than the comparable Optima.
